I can hear a crowd outside screaming here and there. Disappointed more often than not it sounds like. It’s SuperBowl Sunday and while everyone else is glued to the Niner/Raven’s game I’m at a coffee shop doing what I can to wrap up this site overhaul. It’s not much. A wordpress install, a bit of self customization. I promised myself I would finish this before the first quarter of 2013 passed me by and blue blazes will I!
I remember the days when I would write all this by hand. Save a .html file for each day. You can still find a site or two of mine from those days if you try hard enough. Let me help you. Hahaha feel free to laugh, please don’t judge. I was just a bright-eyed busy tailed kid at UCDavis and the internet was still a bit nascent but I knew I was onto something because everytime my fingers touched the keyboard I was EXCITED.
I’ve always had a thing for the written word. Consuming it, making sense of it, taking down my interpretation of it. Throw in some of the meandering my mind tends to do. Rinse, repeat. Blogged before the word blog was even coined.
Since my days at UCDavis I’ve moved on to become a frontend engineer and eventually a principal at my own gig WebMocha. Like many developers, my personal site was the first thing to be neglected in the sea of constant work and exploration of this internet that we all love so much. Because that’s what it is with us. Love. There’s something about being able to reach thousands, even millions of people with some well crafted lines of code. Arrange them in just the right way and you might even be able to change a life or two.
Like most personal sites, GeorgeDiaz.com has gone through lots of revisions. It’s been neglected pretty often because of my huge workload, but revisiting it has always been there in the back of my head. Having been a frontend engineer most of my life and a small business owner the past few years don’t be surprised if a lot of my posts center on web development, technology and my own musings of the future. Like always, GeorgeDiaz.com is my attempt to centralize my thoughts, but I’ll hopefully find the time to throw in some smatterings of creative writing and my own attempts at amateur photography.
I’m a big fan of conversations, regardless of whether you agree with me or not. So join me, please.
